Your adult sex life a romantic relationship for many of us, that means the obvious. You have a right to a happy, fulfilling sex life as an adult, and you shouldn’t settle for a relationship that doesn’t. At the same time, it would be foolish to end a great relationship without at least trying to improve it just because your adult sex life is a little lackluster. So starting the conversation and trying a few new things can help you find ways to revitalize your adult sex life and satisfy both of you. The problem is, that many of us feel uncomfortable talking about our sex lives as adults. And even more so about telling our partners that we’re not happy we’re insecure about each other, worried about embarrassment, her feelings, or making adult sex worse. But the bottom line is that if you’re not happy with your adult sex life, you should tell your partner. You should be in a relationship with someone who wants great sex. And if you need help building this level of openness, that’s okay. You can start with small things to get the conversation going. Here are some subtle ways to tell your partner that you’re not satisfied with your adult sex life because getting the ball rolling is super important.

1. Ask him how he feels

If you want to start a conversation, start by asking questions about how he feels about your sex life as an adult. Is he happy? What do you like doing most together? Even if your partner isn’t the best at reading clues, they should at least ask questions back and give you a chance to talk about how things can be changed or improved. A partner who is a little wiser will realize that you might be looking for something more.

  1. Suggest a Change

Sometimes it’s easier to make the change yourself and get your partner to see the connection, whether it’s something you want to incorporate into your adult sex life, something you want to try, or buying some costumes for your little girl. If you’re looking for something new, introducing it can be another (gentle) way of telling them that it’s not enough, keeping everyone in the mood. Plus, so many people are interested in adult sex, or sex that’s more interesting than it is now, so there’s a good chance your partner will find that they like adding a new dimension, too.

  1. Talk about your fantasies

If you’re not satisfied because you have a certain fantasy that needs fulfilling, talk about it. The best thing about fantasy is that it feels very hypothetical in the conversation. Instead of explicitly telling your partner that your current adult sex life is boring, it feels like you’re creating something out of nothing. If you can have this conversation openly about fantasy, you’ll probably find some common ground. And talking about something as intimate as fantasy could bring you two even closer together

  1. Initiate sex spontaneously

If you take matters into your own hands, you can go beyond hints and just do it. Initiating adult sex is a subtle way to let your partner know that you want more adult sex (or that you’re just excited). If you’re feeling disappointed that you’re having less sex, the easiest solution is to try to have more adult sex. Once you get used to being bold, you’ll be able to have more open conversations.
